Iran expels British diplomats in reciprocal action

TEHRAN,Dec. 1(MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry expelled all staff of the British Embassy in Tehran in response to the closure of the Iranian embassy in London. Britain on Wednesday shut down the Iranian embassy in London and expelled all its staff one day after Iranian students entered the British Embassy compound in Tehran and pulled down the Union Jack. According to Reuters, Foreign Secretary William Hague said, “This does not amount to the severing of diplomatic relations in their entirety. It is action that reduces our relations with Iran to the lowest level consistent with the maintenance of diplomatic relations.”
