PRESIDENT YUDHOYONO TO RUN FOR PRESIDENCY AGAIN IN 2009
Jakarta, Sept 28 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono stated here on Sunday that he would run for the presidency again in the 2009 presidential election.
"As the 2009 elections are near I am now considering to run again. God willing I will run again in the 2009 elections," he said in a dialogue with newsmen.
The president said the reason behind his decision was to finish various jobs that he had already carried out as president.
"I am grateful I have been given the opportunity to make improvements and make changes through what I have already done," he said.
The President said he would officially announce his decision after the election of legislative assembly members or after April 9.
On who will be his vice presidential candidate, he said for now he cannot say for sure, but it would most likely be Jusuf Kalla.
"There are still parliamentary elections. New developments and dynamics may still happen in the Golkar Party and in Jusuf Kalla himself," he said.
The dialogue was attended among others by Minister/State Secretary Hatta Radjasa, cabinet secretary Sudi Silalahi, Communications and Information Minister Muhammad Nuh and a number of presidential staff members.
