Don't be fooled by Britain, Tehran Friday prayer leader tells UN Security Council

TEHRAN, Dec.3 (MNA)-- Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami said that the British government needed to be punished by the Majlis and called on the United Nations Security Council not to “go down the well with the rotten rope of Britain.”
“The (UN) Security Council should not go down the well with the rotten rope of Britain,” Ayatollah Khatami told worshippers at this week’s Friday prayers in Tehran.
Commenting on the recent approval of the Majlis on reducing ties with the UK, he said enlisting the British treacheries against Iran would be a burdensome and time-consuming task.
He said such ratification by Majlis lawmakers was a good punishment for the West Minister officials.
Khatami called on the other European countries to avoid any action which may stir up the feelings of Iranian nations against them.
Khatami pointed to the effective role of Britain in the seditious movement that followed the 2009 presidential election and said the UK government tried its best to undermine the revolution.
He said Britain’s latest hostile move was its decision to sanction the Central Bank of Iran. However, he said sanctioning the central bank is “meaningless” as Iran has not any significant relations with the UK and the U.S.
