Installations by Iranian artist on display at Barcelona museum

TEHRAN,Dec. 4 (MNA) -- Installation works by Iranian-based German artist Natascha Sadr Haqiqian are currently on display during an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona. Entitled “De paso”, her exhibition, which is focuses on the idea of “representation”, will run until December 12. The museum’s website called “complete absence of a recognizable style” as one of the main characteristics of Haqiqian’s work. “As none of Haqiqian’s work resembles any another, it is impossible for spectators or the art market to identify her work,” it added. In her recent works, she strives to find an artistic way of representing inflation, or any other polemic topic that requires a personal position, regarding the durability of the planet or biological agriculture, the website announced. Thanks to a more detailed analysis, it is possible to notice that her work always refers to current issues. Haghighian, currently settled in Berlin, is working on two additional projects about Iran. Curated by Chus Martínez, the showcase is cosponsored by the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) and the Han Nefkens Foundation. “Haqiqian’s work uses mechanisms that produce and alter our form of representing from an image to a question. Representation is a way of ordering elements from reality to assimilate them ‘at once’. To resist this system of summaries or to analyze how it works is to investigate a model of thought inherited from the Enlightenment: deduction,” the website described her works. The Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art is situated in the Plaça dels Àngels, in El Raval, Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Spain. The museum opened to the public on November 28, 1995.
