Iranian publishers to participate in Doha International Book Fair
TEHRAN,Dec.12(MNA) -- Iranian publishers will participate in the 22nd Doha International Book Fair, which opens today at the Doha Exhibitions Center.
Iran will be participating actively this year as the guest of honor with several conferences, Iran’s ambassador to Doha Abdollah Sohrabi said at a press conference attended by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage Mubarak bin Nasser al Khalifa.
Over 450 publishing houses from 24 countries are displaying their products at the fair, he added. The fair is also focusing mainly on children books this year.
Workshops are also arranged during the fair, in which Persian arts of illumination, calligraphy and visual arts are to be taught, he added.
Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini is expected to attend the program and attend several conferences.
“Role of Culture in Islamic Awakening” is the title of the conference in which Dean of Qatar’s University Department of Religious Studies Aisha Al-Manaei as well as Hosseini are due to deliver speeches.
Iranian scholars Ahmad Bidaj and Morteza Heidari are also invited to speak at a conference, which centers on the issue of Quran and Prophet Muhammad (S) in the Persian and Arabic poetry.
A book on Islamic civilization written by Supreme Leader’s top advisor Ali Akbar Velayati is also scheduled to be unveiled on the side section of the 10-day event.
Jordan, Germany, the United States, Bahrain, the UK, Turkey, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Sudan, Sweden, France, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Austria, India, Japan and Qatar are some of the participating countries.
