‘Afghanistan will not allow any state to use its soil against Iran’

TEHRAN,Dec.14 (MNA)– Afghan Deputy Defense Minister Homayun Fawzi said that Afghanistan will not allow any country to use its soil to take action against Iran. He made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in Tehran on Monday. Fawzi said that the Islamic Republic has greatly helped the government and people of Afghanistan through the adoption of a positive and sincere attitude over the past years. He also thanked Iran for its active participation in the international conference on Afghanistan in Bonn and Istanbul. Commenting on the first session of Iran-Afghanistan joint defense committee, which was held in Tehran on Tuesday, the Afghan official said that Iran has great capabilities in the area of defense and called for the expansion of ties. Salehi said that Iran is fully prepared to strengthen military ties with Afghanistan. Iran believes that Afghan forces are capable of maintaining security in the country, Salehi said, adding that Iran is opposed to the conclusion of a strategic agreement between Kabul and Washington. Salehi also said that Iran is committed to helping Kabul improve security in the country and participated in the Bonn conference to help the Afghan government and nation.
