Georgian manuscripts center director visits INLA

TEHRAN,Dec.18(MNA) -- The Director of the Georgian National Center of Manuscripts Buba Kudava paid a visit to the Iran National Library and Archives (INLA). After an invitation by INLA Director Es’haq Eslahi, he traveled to Iran to pay a visit to the library and other academic and research centers. The two parties will also sign an agreement on exchanging documents and manuscripts in the near future. “There is good cooperation between Iran and Georgia in the field of documents and books,” Iran’s cultural attaché to Tbilisi Ehsan Khazaei mentioned in a press release. He pointed out to 3000 manuscripts available in Georgian archives and academic centers, saying that INLA will hold courses on preservation and restoration of manuscripts for Georgian librarians according to an agreement which will be signed by the two parties. The Iranian cultural attaché’s office in Tbilisi dedicated several Persian books to the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia. It also held several exhibits of Persian manuscripts and invited Georgian scholars for specialized meetings. The Georgian National Center of Manuscripts is a research and educational institution dedicated to studying old manuscripts and historical documents. Established on June 30, 1958, the center is based in Tbilisi. It operates its own museum which houses a unique collection of old manuscripts. Professor Buba Kudava has been the center’s director since 2006.
