Tatarstan Republic president, Iranian FM hold talks in Tehran

TEHRAN,Dec.19(MNA)--Tatarstan Republic President Rustam Minnikhanov met with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in Tehran on Sunday. Tatarstan is a federal subject of Russia that is located in the Volga Federal District. In the meeting, Salehi expressed satisfaction with the expansion of economic and trade ties between Iran and Tatarstan and called for an increase in the level of ties. He also said it is important that political and economic consultations be held between Iranian and Russian officials. Elsewhere in his remarks, Salehi announced the preparedness of Iran’s universities to increase their interaction with Tatarstan’s universities and to exchange university students and professors. Minnikhanov expressed satisfaction with his meetings with Iranian officials and said that Tatarstan welcomes the expansion of relations. Hailing Iran’s progress in various areas, he emphasized the need to strengthen Tehran-Kazan cooperation in oil industry, machinery manufacturing, energy sector, and other spheres.
