RI-CHINA TRADE NOT AFFECTED BY CONTAMINATED MILK SCANDAL

Beijing, Sept 30 (ANTARA) - Indonesia's trade relations with China have not been negatively affected by the banning of Chinese milk product imports and circulation in Indonesia due to the melamine-contaminated milk scandal, an Indonesian official here said.
"So far, there have been no significant problems. Hopefully, the contaminated milk debacle will not increase and disturb the two countries' trade relations," Indonesian Trade Atache in Beijing Imbang Listiyadi said here Tuesday.
Listiyadi further said until now his office has not received any complaint from the Chinese side related to the rejection of Chinese milk products in Indonesia.
"The scandal is all China's fault," he said.
It was hoped the contmainated milk problem would not affect bilateral trade in other products so that trade relations between the two countries would remain good, Listiyadi said.
"The Chinese government is very seriously handling the scandal and from the reports or news, every optimum action is done and will always be done," Listiyadi said.
Listiyadi also said he was optimistic the problem can be solved soon so the local as well as foreign consumers' trust in Chinese milk product would not be entirely destroyed.
Monitoring by China's Administration for Quality Supervision and Quarantine (AQSIQ) over the past two weeks had not resulted in the discovery of more melamine-contaminated milk and yoghurt.
