Enemies seek to undermine Iraq's achievements: Iran FM

TEHRAN, Dec.24 (MNA) - In a telephone conversation on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi offered his condolences to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari over the death of a number of Iraqi people in terrorist attacks. Coordinated bombings ripped through Baghdad on Thursday killing scores of people in more than 10 explosions. Salehi said that the Iraqi government and the country's security forces are capable of maintaining and improving security and stability in Iraq, adding, "Iraq's enemies are attempting to undermine the great achievements of the Iraqi nation in restoring national sovereignty and the country's independence through committing such criminal and inhumane actions." The Iranian foreign minister also described Iraq as an influential country in the regional and international arenas and thanked Baghdad for its efforts to arrange negotiations between the Syrian government and the opposition with the aim of defusing the crisis in the Arab state. Zebari thanked Iran for its efforts to promote security and stability in Iraq and said that the two countries should maintain their brotherly relations.
