Pakistani president for early completion of Pak-Iran gas pipeline

TEHRAN, Dec.24 (MNA)-- Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari Thursday stressed the need for promotion of Pakistan-Iran ties and early completion of the gas project. The President was talking to new Iranian ambassador to Pakistan Ali Reza Haqiqan after he presented his credentials to him at the Presidency. The President said that relations between Iran and Pakistan are important for the regional stability. The President and the Iranian ambassador also discussed the upcoming Pakistan-Iran-Afghanistan trilateral summit. He underlined the need for promotion of ties among the three countries and said Pakistan is ready to attend the trilateral summit. He welcomed the new Iranian ambassador and wished him success in performing his diplomatic responsibilities during his stay in Pakistan. He said that the new envoy would also play his role in promotion of bilateral relationship. The new Iranian ambassador stressed that Pakistan and Iran should work for the promotion of bilateral trade and economic activities. He also called for a boost in energy cooperation. He said both countries have common interest. The envoy said Tehran is ready to extend cooperation in every field. Talking about the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, Ali Reza Haqiqan said that leaders of both the countries are willing to implement the project. He hoped that the project will be completed as per schedule.
