Winners of Persian painting biennial awarded

TEHRAN,Dec.28(MNA) -- Top selected winners of the 8th edition of Iran’s National Biennial of Persian Painting were honored during the closing ceremony held at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) here on Monday. The award presentation ceremony took place in the presence of Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi, TMCA Director Mahmud Shaluii and veteran master of Persian paintings Mahmud Farshchian. The Isfahan Museum of Contemporary Art hosted the event for one month, Hossein Esmati, secretary of the biennial said at the ceremony, adding that the veteran section was separate from the competition section this year. Farshchian expressed his satisfaction over the increasing number of the participating works compared with the past few years. The ceremony continued with handing the best with the awards. In the special section of miniature, Majid Fattahi received the first prize, and Maryam Labbani Motlaq was honored in the illumination section. In the gol-o-morgh section - a unique style of Persian painting featuring bird and floral motifs in different colors- Rana Sharilu and Ehsan Fattahi shared the first prize. In the section of tash’ir (a form of simple illumination decorated with tiny disordered patterns), Mohammad-Vali Mohammadi received the first prize. Akram Ziyaii Tabatabaii got the first prize in the painting section. Several artists were also honored in the seminar section arranged on the side section of the biennial.
