Third Eye filmfest observes Iranian films

TEHRAN,Jan.1(MNA) – Iranian films received top prizes at the Third Eye Asian Film Festival of Mumbai which was held from December 22 to 29, India. “Bitter Milk” by Nasser Zamiri grabbed the Best Short Film Award of the festival and Ali Hayati was honored by the jury of the festival for “My Silent Shadow”. The seven-day festival screened 100 feature films and 50 short films and premiered “Opium Wars” by the Afghani director Siddiq Barmak. In his 17-minute film, the director from Khuzestan province, Ali Hayati, narrates the life of people who are still enmeshed in the negative effects of the Iran-Iraq War (1980-88). Directed by Nasser Zamiri, “Bitter Milk” is about the Aziz family and the many people of Afghanistan that have been displaced as a result of the war. In order to earn a living and after much suffering, the Aziz family along with other Afghan families decide to go to the Pakistani border with their infants The Asian Film Festival aims to establish interaction between the Asian Film fraternities and create a dialogue with the West. Asghar Farhadi’s “Nader and Simin: A Separation” and Mehrshad Karkhani’s “National Alley” are other Iranian films which went on screen at the festival.
