Syndicate Calls For Release Of Iranian Technicians From Syria

Tehran, Jan 2, IRNA -- Iran's Syndicate of Electricity industrialists on Sunday called for release of kidnapped Iranian technicians who were working for welfare of the Syrian nation.
The Syndicate said in a statement that seven technicians working in electricity project in Syria had nothing to do with the political conflict in Syria and they were working for the welfare of the Syrian nation.
The Syndicate criticized the unethical action of Syrian kidnappers and said that it is not acceptable for them to mix up the political conflict in Syria with the projects being carried out by Iran for the welfare of the Syrian nation.
The statement said that the kidnappers must respect international norms and release the technicians adding that they were serving the Syrian people through construction of power plants in Syria.
The statement said that the Syndicate is a non-governmental organization and representing 400 private executives and consultants of electricity projects.
The Syndicate condemned the kidnapping and urged the Syrian political groups to respect immunity of foreign nationals operating for welfare of the nation.
It said that the host country is responsible for safety and security of the technicians working on industrial projects and the Syrian government is expected to take immediate action to release the Iranian technicians./end
