TEHRAN,Jan.2(MNA) -- Veteran stage and screen actor Mohammad-Ali Keshavarz shared his old memoirs with Anthony Quinn in the recent documentary “My Hand, Full of Loneliness”.
Directed by Rahim Sadr, the documentary briefly chronicles the life and career of the actor and reviews the films he has played in, highlighting his memories of the deceased director Ali Hatami.
Keshavarz played the role of Sahkkur in “Caravans”, a 1978 Iranian-American film directed by James Fargo based on the novel by James Michener. The movie was shot in Iran and several Iranian actors also appeared in the movie along with Keshavarz.
“The actor did not know me well and refused to cooperate when I suggested making the doc, but little by little I was able to win his trust and we began the shooting process.
“Sangelaj Theater Hall was where we started with and we later went to Pars Theater Hall, an old location where the veteran actors of stage began their acting in older times,” he added.
Sadr also explained that Keshavarz had a close relationship with director Hatami and had played in most of his films, “We next went to Ghazali Cinematic Strip and walked on the old location of the TV series ‘Hezar-Dastan’ where he talked about his friendship and collaboration with Hatami.”
“Keshavarz also talks about his role in ‘Caravans’ and his acting with Quinn in the film,” Sadr added.
“My Hand, Full of Loneliness” is due to be screened at the documentary section of the 30th Fajr International Film Festival to be running in February.
Born in 1930 in Isfahan, Keshavarz began his stage acting career in 1948 and entered the world of cinema with “Night of the Hunchback” by Farrokh Ghaffari in 1964.
He has so far acted in many famous hits including “Mother”, “Kamalolmolk” and “Delshodegan” by Ali Hatami, as well as “Through the Olive Trees” by Abbas Kiarostami and “Once Upon a Time, Cinema” by Mohsen Makhmalbaf.
