Iranian film “Sound of the Rain” enchants Kurdish filmfest jury

TEHRAN,Jan.2 (MNA) -- The Iranian film “The Sound of the Rain” won three Golden Gazelle awards at the Sulaimaniyah Kurdish Film Festival, which was held from December 22 to 28 in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. “The Sound of Rain” by Jalal Saedpanah was crowned as the Best Short Film of the festival. Saedpanah won the Best Screenplay Award and also the Best Director Award for the film. “The Sound of Rain” is about a craftsman who lives alone in a little hut atop one of the city’s roofs. The only one disturbing his peace is a small Mongolian boy who loves him above everything else. Other Iranian films also won top prizes of Golden Gazelles at the festival at the event during which eight films and 25 short movies by directors from Iran, Turkey, Iraq and other countries went on screen. The Best Children Film Award went to Teymur Qaderi for his film “Pomegranate Is a Heavenly Fruit”. The 15-minute film is about a little girl named Shadi whose parents do not let her to go to school so her friend Saeid tries to teach her. The Iranian music composer Behruz Shahamat was also awarded with Best Music Award for the film “Why?” At the closing ceremony of the festival in Sulaymaniyah, “Passion of Charlie” by Iranian filmmaker Alireza Sa’adatnia went on screen and after that the secretary of the festival, Azad Sawza, spoke about the festival. “Sun behind the Cloud” by Reza Sobhani and “Mandoo” by Ebrahim Saeidi were Iranian feature films that went on screen at the event. Fourteen Iranian short films including “Going…” by Salem Salavati, “Hima” by Tofiq Amani and “The Sea Was Mine One Day” by Sasan Farrokhnia were also among the lineup of the festival.
