Persian painter Farshchian donates “Worship of the Creator” to Mashhad museum

TEHRAN,Jan.7(MNA) -- Master Persian miniaturist Mahmud Farshchian dedicated his recent work “Worship of the Creator” to the Astan-e Qods Razavi Museum in Mashhad. The artwork was unveiled during a ceremony at the Farshchian Museum of Sadabad Palace Museum on Thursday attended by Iranian Office for Visual Arts Director Mahmud Shaluii and several artists and officials. During the ceremony, Farshchian said that he was inspired by the Quranic verse “Whatever in the heavens and whatever in the earth declare the glory of Allah” in creation of the artwork. “The verse which is repeated in several surahs of the Quran is a very nice and delicate sentence which I recite on many days to myself,” he added. He said that in his view all the creatures in the world are worshiping God in different ways and he tried to feature this in his work. The artwork will go on display for one year at the Sadabad Palace Museum and after that it will be dedicated to the Astan-e Qods Razavi Museum. “Artists praise God through creation of their artwork. I decided dedicate it the Astan-e Qods Razavi Museum so I prefer to hold the opening ceremony in simple way,” he added. “It is our duty to honor brilliant stars of Persian art like Mahmud Farshchian,” the acting director of the Sadabad Palace Museum Arash Lashkari mentioned during the event. Farshchian, 82, studied painting under the supervision of Haj Mirza Aqa Emami and Isa Bahadori. He later traveled to Europe where he studied painting and conducted research in museums for several years. Farshchian’s masterpieces have been hosted by numerous museums and exhibitions worldwide. He is recognized as the most important modernizing influence in the field of miniatures. His name has been registered on Britain’s list of 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st century and collectors feel it a great honor to possess one of his creations.
