IRGC ground troops practice asymmetric warfare tactics
TEHRAN, Jan.9 (MNA) – The ground troops of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) practiced the tactics of asymmetric warfare against the hypothetical enemy during the second day of the preliminary stage of the war games, entitled Martyrs to Unity, which started in eastern Iran on Saturday.
“In this stage of the maneuvers, some professional and specialized units of the IRGC Ground Forces displayed the tactics and techniques of asymmetric warfare harmoniously, successfully, and with full preparedness,” Brigadier Hamid Sarkheili, the spokesman of the maneuvers, said on Sunday.
Cavalry, mechanized, and combat units of the IRGC Ground Forces spread out across the theater of operation and destroyed mock enemy targets using tactics of asymmetric warfare, Sarkheili said.
He also said that over the next days, new tactics of modern warfare will be displayed and advanced domestically manufactured military equipment will be unveiled.
The main stage of the war games will begin on Monday, he added.
IRGC Ground Forces Commander Mohammad Pakpour said on Saturday that the purposes of the war games are to enhance the capabilities of IRGC ground troops and combat units and increase security at Iran’s borders.
