Supreme Leader: Lively Turnout In Election Will Strike Blow To Enemy

Tehran, Jan 10, IRNA – The Supreme Leader of The Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that a lively turnout of people in the upcoming election will strike another blow to the enemy. The Leader made the remarks in a meeting with thousands of theologians and students of theological center of Qom to mark the anniversary of the uprising in the holy city against the deposed shah in 1978. The Supreme Leader said that all officials and candidates must respect their commitments to the law and prepare the ground for a healthy and competitive parliamentary election in March. The Supreme Leader termed the uprising in Qom in 1978 as a turning point for the historical events worldwide. Ayatollah Khamenei said that insight and patience were the key elements for victory of the Islamic Revolution and that two major factors guaranteed sustainable power of Iranian nation: Firm insistence of the Islamic Republic of Iran on its principles and the people's vigilance and presence on the scene. The Supreme Leader said that thank God, the Islamic Republic of Iran is at the heights of glory citing examples from history of Islam and victories of Imam Ali (AS), the first Imam of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Infallible Household in fighting the enemy. The Supreme Leader dismissed the current sanctions on Iran comparing it to a boycott imposed on Infallible Household of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) after his appointment to prophet-hood She'b Abi-Taleb./end
