Decision on Roj TV a first step, says FM Davutoglu

ANKARA (A.A) - January 10, 2012 - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Tuesday that the Danish court's decision on Roj TV on Tuesday was a first step. We now expect administrative authorities to act according to the Danish court's decision, Davutoglu said. Speaking at a joint press conference with his Tunisian counterpart Rafik Abdessalem in Ankara, Davutoglu said that the Danish court's decision of 175 pages had to be read accurately and analyzed. The Danish court describes PKK as a terrorist organization and stressed that Roj TV conducted propaganda for PKK. The court has shown that Roj TV was controlled and financed by PKK and that Roj TV had close relations with PKK, Davutoglu said. The court has fined Roj TV with a monetary penalty for making propaganda of PKK. The court could not decide to shut down Roj TV permanently as Danish laws did not give such an authority to the court. However, the court has sent the issue of Roj TV to the Danish radio and television high board, Davutoglu underlined.
