Syrian administration must understand running out clock will not help continuation of old system, says FM Davutoglu

ANKARA (A.A) - January 10, 2012 - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Tuesday that the speech delivered by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to the Syrian nation was full of accusations and was designed to gain time. In a joint press conference with his Tunisian counterpart Rafik Abdessalem in Ankara, Davutoglu said that the Syrian administration had to understand that running out the clock would not help the continuation of the old system, old order, one party politics and pressures on the Syrian people. The Syrian administration and Mr. al-Assad must listen to their people instead of accusing others. The primary duty of the Syrian administration is to listen to its people rather than massacring them. It is not possible to gain the support of the people by delivering a speech on TV. All dates stated get postponed and promises are made constantly in Syria. This shakes the people's confidence in the Syrian regime. The Syrian administration must understand that it can not achieve anything by running out the clock, Davutoglu said.
