French playwright Jacques Lassalle to hold workshops in Tehran

TEHRAN,Jan.12(MNA) -- French director and playwright Jacques Lassalle has been invited to Tehran to hold two workshops on the sidelines of the 30th Fajr International Theater Festival late January. Lassalle will be discussing the major basis of theater management in the first workshop entitled “Theater Management”. He will also be reviewing the Comedie-Francaise, the national theater of France. In his second workshop “What Is Mise en scène”, Lassalle will discuss basic facts about directing. He is due to cover the play “The School for Wives” by French playwright Moliere to put his message forward. The three-day workshop, running from January 29 to 31, will be held at Tehran’s City Theater Complex. Interested applicants are asked to register online at the www.fitf.ir before January 15. Several of Tehran’s theaters will be playing host to Iranian and foreign troupes during the festival, which will be held from January 25 to February 11. Lassalle has previously staged famous plays in France and several other countries including Chekhov’s “Platonov” and “Monsieur X, Here Called Pierre Rabier” by Marguerite Duras. He founded the Studio Theater of Vitry, which ran until 1982 and for which he wrote several plays. Lassalle was director of the National Theater of Strasbourg from 1983 to 1990. He was also deputy head of the Comédie-French from 1990 to 1993.
