Iran positive towards holding nuclear talks in Turkey
ANKARA (A.A) - January 12, 2012 - The speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majles) of Iran said on Thursday that his country was positive towards holding nuclear negotiations in Turkey.
ALi Larijani said Iran wanted nuclear negotiations to be serious this time.
"Our Turkish brothers think that negotiations should take place in Turkey, and of course we are positive towards holding these talks in Turkey," Larijani told a press conference in Ankara.
Larijani said perspectives of Turkish and Iranian leaders on regional problems were close, and Turkey and Iran were of the same opinion about strategic issues.
On developments in Syria, Larijani said Iran had always stood by nations, and every regional nation had the right to self-determination.
Larijani said Iran was sharing the same views with Turkish government and respected stance of Turkish leaders.
Democracy was not something that belonged to a certain geography, and therefore some reforms had to be made, Larijani said.
Larijani said Iran thought reforms should be made in Syria but in a rational way.
On radar system to be deployed in Turkey, Larijani said Iran had confidence in Turkish executives, but this issue should be illuminated.
Larijani also said an Iranian delegation would visit Turkey next week for a Joint Economic Committee meeting, adding that the delegation would discuss issues like opening new border crossings and establishing organized industrial zones between Turkey and Iran.
