FORMER FINNISH PRESIDENT ACKNOWLEDGES KALLA'S DEDICATION TO ACEH PEACE
Paris, France, Oct 3 (ANTARA) - Former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari acknowledged the dedication of Vice President Jusuf Kalla in pushing the creation of peace in Aceh through the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Helsinki.
"I extend my thanks as it was only through the dedication and consistency of Jusuf Kalla that eventually peace negotiations on Aceh could materialize," he said when handing over the appreciation of the Felip Mouphouet-Bolgny Peace Prize by UNESCO here on Thursday afternoon.
According to Martti, during the peace negotiations for Aceh, Jusuf Kalla played a key and crucial role and admitted Kalla's role really helped materialize peace in Aceh.
Martti received the appreciation from UNESCO for having dedicated all his time and ideas for creating peace in Namibia, the Balkan region and Aceh.
On the occasion of handing over the appreciation, Kalla was also given the chance to deliver a speech.
