Court case regarding the September 12 military coup to begin on April 4

ANKARA (A.A) - January 18, 2012 - A court case regarding the September 12, 1980 military coup in Turkey would begin in Ankara on April 4. The Ankara 12th High Criminal Court has determined April 4 as the date the case would begin on. Former chief of General Staff and 7th President Kenan Evren and retired commander of the Turkish Air Forces General Tahsin Sahinkaya will be the defendants at the case. Evren and Sahinkaya face a possible sentence of life in prison for "overthrowing the Turkish government" and "changing the Turkish Constitution".
