Turkish FM Davutoğlu: Suspension of Roj TV broadcast was expected decision

ANKARA (A.A) - January 20, 2012 - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Friday that Eutelsat's (satellite operator for broadcast) decision to suspend the broadcast of Roj TV was an expected decision.
"We hope that all other companies will make a similar decision and fulfill their humane and legal tasks against broadcasts sponsoring terrorism," Davutoglu said at a press conference with South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Kim Sung-hwan in Ankara.
Diplomatic relations between Turkey and South Korea have been continuing for 55 years and the two countries were eager to boost bilateral relations, he said.
Davutoglu said they discussed steps that would be taken in the areas of culture, politics and economy.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was expected to visit South Korea in March for nuclear summit, he said.
Trade volume between Turkey and South Korea was 1.3 billion USD in 2000 and the figure reached 6 billion USD in the recent period, he said.
"Imbalance is the basic problem in trade. South Korea's exports to Turkey amounted nearly 5.5 billion U.S. dollars and the remaining 500 million USD was Turkey's exports. We discussed what can be done to remove imbalance in trade," he said.
Davutoglu said they agreed that free trade agreement should be signed as soon possible.
He said they hoped that trade volume would reach 10 billion USD soon.
Replying to a question on Eutelsat's decision to suspend broadcast of Roj TV, Davutoglu said relevant companies made decisions complying with the verdict of Danish court. If a TV channel's ties with a terrorist organization were put forth clearly, international organizations, companies and countries should assume stances by taking into consideration this fact, he said.
