Turkey hopes Croatia's EU membership to contribute to regional peace

ANKARA (A.A) - January 24, 2012 - Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman said that they hoped Croatia's EU membership would contribute to regional peace and stability. Replying to a question, Spokesman Selcuk Unal said that Turkey welcomed that 66.24 percent of Croatian people backed EU membership in a referendum held on Monday. "We congratulate Croatia and Croatian people on their choice and we hope that its membership will contribute to regional peace and stability," he said. Turkey attached a great importance to its relations with Croatia, an ally of Turkey, he added.
