ITA Chairman: Turkey's trade with Syria comes to halt

ISTANBUL (A.A) - Chairman of the International Transporters Association, Engin Ozmen, said Wednesday that Turkey's trade with Syria came to a halt due to certain developments "beyond our control". Speaking to the AA, Ozmen said that around 40-50 Turkish companies with approximately 2,000 vehicles were facing a difficult situation due to policies implemented by Syria. "There are two projects with which we can bypass Syria in the Middle East. One of them has to do with Ro-Ro trips between Mersin and Alexandria. The other involves using the Habur Border Gate and going to Jordan via north of Iraq and other destinations in the region," Ozmen stressed. We have to implement these two projects, Ozmen also said.
