President Gul receives head of Iraq's Islamic Supreme Council

ANKARA (A.A) - January 26, 2012 - Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Thursday received the head of Iraq's Islamic Supreme Council Ammar al-Hakim in Ankara. In a statement posted on the web site, the Turkish Presidency said that Gul and al-Hakim discussed relations between Turkey and Iraq. According to the web site of the Turkish Presidency, Gul told al-Hakim that all segments in Iraq had to assume policies that would be in the interest of the whole country and act with common sense. Al-Hakim, in return, told President Gul that the problems in Iraq would be solved in close consultations between all segments of the Iraqi society, including the Shiites, Sunnis, Arabs, Kurds and Turkmens, indicated the Turkish Presidency on their web site.
