Leaders of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran to meet in Islamabad on Thursday

ISLAMABAD (A.A) - February 15, 2012 - Presidents of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran will meet in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad on Thursday. Spokesperson for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry Abdul Basid said Wednesday that Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad will gather together in Islamabad for a trilateral meeting on Thursday. Basid said that the Islamabad summit would focus on counter-terrorism and regional cooperation. President Zardari will hold a separate meeting with Ahmadi-Nejad to talk about a natural gas project between Iran and Pakistan. Political analysts have said that the trilateral summit will be an opportunity to talk about post-NATO period in Afghanistan and the negotiations taking place with Taliban.
