Ahmadinejad’s Pakistan Trip To Open Avenues Of Co-op : Lawmaker

Islamabad, Feb 16, IRNA – A senior Pakistani lawmaker has said the visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Pakistan would open new avenues of bilateral cooperation. Talking to IRNA on Wednesday, Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz said that Iran and Pakistan have long history of cordial relations and Iran has always helped Pakistan in difficult times. He was of the view that Iran and Pakistan are two brotherly neighbors. “We share same sentiments for each other,” the Senator said. “We welcome President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Pakistan,” said Mushahid Ullah Khan. “Pakistan attaches high priority to its relations with Iran,” he said. He expressed the hope that the visit by the Iranian president would help resolve regional issues. The political leader added Iran holds an important place in the world and Pakistan must come closer to the Islamic Republic as much as they can. He said that Iran-Pakistan relationship provides basis for strong economic ties. The parliamentarian opined that Pakistan and Iran should complete at fast pace projects for importing electricity to enhance bilateral relations in the field of trade, energy and economy. The Senator stressed the need for Ummah unity to counter changes to Muslim nations. Mushahid Ullah Khan said that Iran and Pakistan are two major Muslim countries and can play an effective role for the stability of Muslim Ummah./end
