A Turkish company building train stations in Medina

JEDDAH (A.A) - February 18, 2012 - A Turkish company is building stations of high-speed train in Medina. Saudi Arabian government is planning to initiate a high-speed train project which will decrease time of transportation between Mecca and Medina to 2.5 hours. Every year 10 million Muslims visit sacred places in Saudi Arabia. Turkish company Yapi Merkezi began to build Medina stations of the project in November 2011, and is planning to complete it within two years. The project worths 415 million USD. Currently, 350 people, including 60 Turkish engineers, are working in the project which will provide employment for 1,700 people in the next phases. 900 of them will be Turkish workers.
