UN general assembly president arrives in Turkey

ISTANBUL (A.A) - Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, president of the 66th Session of the UN General Assembly, arrived in Turkey on Wednesday. Al-Nasser told reporters that his meetings would focus on recent regional developments and the agenda items of the United Nations. Noting that he would hold meetings with Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in capital Ankara, Al-Nasser said that he would also attend a conference in Istanbul. Stressing the importance of Turkey's role in recent regional developments, Al-Nasser said that they were planning to hold a conference on regional matters in Turkey in May. Also commenting on the rising violence in Syria, Al-Nasser said that violence should immediately end in Syria, adding that the UN and the world would not remain silent towards the violence.
