Turkish foreign minister calls international community to help Somali people

LONDON (A.A) - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called on international community to help Somali people and open diplomatic representations to end the tragedy in that country.
Speaking at the opening of the International Conference on Somalia in London on Thursday, Davutoglu said that international community should assist Somalia more.
Davutoglu gave information about Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Somalia last year, and noted that Turkey's assistance to the country would continue.
Minister Davutoglu briefed participants about the activities of Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu, Turkish Cooperation & Coordination Agency Administration (TIKA) and other Turkish humanitarian aid associations, and said that Turkish Airlines (THY) would begin direct flights to Somalia soon.
Davutoglu said that the activities of the United Nations in Somalia should be supported too.
Recalling that UN Somalia Conference had been hosted by Turkey in May 2010, Davutoglu said that the second meeting was planned to be held in Istanbul in June 2012.
