Parliament speaker says incidents in Syria are very upsetting

RIYADH (A.A) - February 27, 2012 - Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek has said that incidents in Syria were very upsetting. People in Syria are losing their lives everyday due to unproportional use of force, added Cicek who spoke to reporters in Saudi Arabia where he went to attend a G20 meeting. There is an obvious violation of human rights in Syria, said Cicek, adding that such incidents in Syria had impacts on Turkey too because the two countries were close neighbors. Turkey wants Syria to restore tranquility and peace immediately, said Cicek. He noted that people's demands should have been listened from the beginning to prevent such incidents happening in Syria, but unfortunately Syrian leader tried to silence those demands by using tanks and weapons. Cicek said that hopes were losing each day about Syria. Regarding Iran, Cicek said that Turkey had a general stance about the incidents in the Middle East, adding that Turkey supported dialogue and diplomacy, and it was against solving the problems by using force. Also commenting on Turkey-Russia relations, Cicek said that the two countries had a close relation which could be defined as a strategic partnership, adding that Turkey and Russia had a very intensive economic relation too.
