Afghan governor invites Turkish companies to mining sector

ANKARA (A.A) - February 27, 2012 - Governor of an Afghan province has said that Afghanistan needed investments in the mining sector, stating that they expected Turkish companies to invest in this sector.  Mohammad Aleem Saaie, governor of Jawzjan province of Afghanistan, attended a meeting on foreign investments in Afghanistan organized by the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) in Turkish capital of Ankara. Speaking to AA correspondent, Saaie said that Turkish companies had some concerns over security in Afghanistan, but there was no need to be concerned. Saaie said that they took important steps improving security in the country. Jawzjan province, bordering Turkmenistan, had rich natural gas resources and mineral deposits, he said. Saaie said that they were eager to see Turkish companies in Afghanistan and they provided conveniences to them. Especially U.S. and Chinese companies were making business in Afghanistan, he said. Turkish companies had advantages in Afghanistan, because Afghan people really liked Turks, he said.
