Syria Taking Steps To Release Iranian Engineers

Damascus, March 4, IRNA – Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad said some steps had been taken to release Iranian kidnapped engineers in the city of Hems.
He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Iranian media delegation on Saturday adding they are waiting that the current steps toward release of Iranian kidnapped engineers to become operational.
Mikdad underlined that kidnappers are trying to create a challenge in Tehran-Damascus relations and want to take advantage against strong ties between the two countries.
Concerning possible transferring of the kidnapped engineers to Lebanon, the Syrian senior diplomat said Syria has no idea about their whereabouts, 'otherwise we could do our operation'.
