Bagis: Israel cannot make friendly relations with neighbors while killing Turks in international waters

BRUSSELS (A.A) – March 7, 2012 – Turkey's EU Minister Egemen Bagis said that Israel was wasting its time by thinking to establish friendly relations with regional countries while killing nine citizens of Turkey in international waters. Speaking at a conference in Brussels on Wednesday, Bagis said that Israel was acting disrespectful towards values of regional people and killed nine citizens of Turkey -–its single Muslim friend-- in international waters, adding that while acting like that, Israel could not expect to make friendly relations in this geography. It is necessary to call on Israel to pay attention and show respect to values of people it wants to live together, said Bagis. He noted that Arab Spring could turn into a winter for some countries as long as a permanent peace was not settled in Palestine. It will be for the interest of Israel to show respect to regional people to live in peace in the region, he added. Bagis said that Turkey's only effort in the region was to restore peace, tranquility and brotherhood, and Turkey was willing to undertake this role together with the EU. I hope the EU would share Turkey's sensitivity in Palestinian issue, said Bagis.
