Invest In Myanmar, Minister Tells M'sian Companies

JOHOR BAHARU (Johor, Malaysia), March 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysian International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed has called on more Malaysian companies to invest in Myanmar. He said Malaysian traders who wanted to expand their businesses should take advantage of the Myanmar government's policy to draw more foreign investors. "Presently, we have almost 200 businessmen who have invested in Myanmar and we want to see more. "Among potential fields are property development, oil palm plantation, infrastructure development and many more," he told reporters after meeting investment agencies here Wednesday. Present was Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) Chief Excutive Officer Ismail Ibrahim. Meanwhile, Mustapa said the rapid economic development in Myanmar would not adversely affect foreign direct investment inflows to Malaysia. -- BERNAMA
