Plenitude Penang World Music Festival Returns With 20 Bands

GEORGE TOWN (Malaysia), March 15 (Bernama) -- After a three-year hiatus, the Penang World Music Festival returns with a better and bigger group of local and foreign performers. To be staged at the picturesque Quarry Recreational Park, Botanic Gardens, from March 30 to April 1, the festival will feature musicians from all corners of the world. State Exco for Tourism Development and Culture Danny Law said the festival for this year would be known as Plenitude Penang World Music Festival following the property developer, Plenitude Bhd's contribution as the title sponsor for the event. He said the state was grateful that Plenitude was willing to sponsor about RM300,000 for the festival besides the other sponsors. "After being absent for three years, I am sure the participants comprising foreign and local bands will definitely rock the Pearl of the Orient," he told reporters after a mock cheque presentation by Plenitude, represented by its executive chairman Elsie Chua, here Thursday. He said following the sponsorship by Plenitude, the organisers has decided to come up with a special promotion to spice up the events which featured bands from Australia, India, China, Korea, Africa as well as local Malaysian bands. -- BERNAMA
