KUAT Delegation On Six-Day Visit To Study Australia's Agriculture Industry

By Neville DCruz MELBOURNE, March 19 (Bernama) -- Thirty members of the Malaysian Agri-Entrepreneur Club (KUAT) arrived here on Monday on a six-day visit to study Australia's agriculture industry and its farming and business methods. The delegation is led by KUAT secretary, Zahari Abu Yazid and accompanied by Muhammad Rudy Khairudin Mohd Nor, the Malaysian Agriculture Counsellor in Australia. The programme is supported by the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry. The delegation will visit the Agrochallenge 2012 in the provincial city of Warragul, Victoria this Thursday and also the Farmworld 2012, an established agriculture expo that has been organised for 50 years, at the same place. "Australia has a strong agriculture sector that is export oriented which makes it a key food exporter to the world. "KUAT hopes to learn from Australia's experience in farming technologies, retail system and quarantine control," Rudy Khairudin told Bernama. The Malaysian delegation will see world-class technologies, quality agriculture products and establish business relationships with Australian companies at the Farmworld 2012. KUAT was formed in November 2002 as a non-governmental organisation representing agricultural entrepreneurs in Malaysia. Its objectives are to enhance agriculture entrepreneurs' knowledge and capacity through training, business matching and technical visits. It has about 500 members. -- BERNAMA
