Syndicate Falsifying 6P Programme Documents Busted

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), March 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Immigration Department has busted a syndicate involved in falsifying documents for the registration of illegal immigrants under the 6P Programme, in Bandar Baru Bangi, on Monday. Acting on information from the public, a team led by Thalhah Salleh detained a Bangladesh man who had impersonated himself as an agent for the registration of illegal immigrants under the 6P Programme, charging a fee for his service. "We seized 15 6P Programme registration slips in his premises while a local woman and another Bangladesh man were also hauled up for questioning," he said here Wednesday. In a separate incident, another Bangladesh man who had also impersonated himself as an agent for recruiting foreign workers for all sectors, was detained at the Immigration headquarters here Tuesday. "42 foreign workers registration slips, a 6P Legalization Endorsement Letter and 13 Bangladesh passports were also seized from the man," he said adding that all the detained Bangladesh men were being detained at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport detention centre for questioning. The department also urged members of the public to deal directly with the department on matters related to the registration of foreign workers and advised members of the public with information to contact the department at 1-800-22-6969 or through e-mail at pro@imi.gov.my. -- BERNAMA
