Healthcare Experts Gather In Singapore At Asia Conference 2012

SINGAPORE, March 28 (Bernama) -- Healthcare experts from the Asia Pacific region including Malaysia and across the world convene on Wednesday at the third Healthcare in Asia 2012 conference here to exchange insights on healthcare reforms in the region. Chaired by Charles Goddard, editorial director, Asia-Pacific, Economist Intelligence Unit, the roundtable brings together more than 220 leaders including five health ministers, global heads of private firms, leading academics and senior executives from non-governmental organisations. Diabetes and cancer will be used as case studies to explore what needs to be implemented at each stage of the disease lifecycle to achieve better outcomes. Malaysia's Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai is among the panellists who speak at the Ministerial Dialogue session. He is joined the Philippines' Assistant Secretary of Health, Nemesia Gako, and Nila Moeloek, Special Envoy of the Indonesian president, on Millenium Development Goals at the dialogue entitled, "Accessibility, Accountability and Affordability." The event is moderated by The Economist's Asia columnist Simon Long. Singapore Health Minister Gan Kim Yong presented a keynote address on how an outcome-oriented approach enabled Singapore to develop a healthcare system to meet the needs of its population. -- BERNAMA
