FAMA To Market Fruits From Contract Farming To Middle East

KOTA BAHARU (Kelantan, Malaysia), March 29 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (Fama) plans to market fresh fruits produced by contract farming to penetrate overseas markets, especially those in the Middle East. It would try to penetrate the musk melon market in the Middle East, including Mecca, said Fama chairman Badruddin Amiruldin. He said the steps were a follow-up to Fama's move to market frozen durians in China, which had shown positive development. He said, Fama had exported 25 containers of 40 tonnes of frozen durian each to China, adding the pilot project appeared to show positive signs. Badruddin was speaking to reporters after presenting agricultural equipment to farmers at the Kampung Banggol royal project near here Tuesday. Meanwhile, he said, Fama would intensify the use of the agricultural vitamin product, 'higro', to produce lush and fresh fruits for export overseas. -- BERNAMA
