Fees For Non-Immigrant US Visa Increases From April 13

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) -- Journalist visas to the United States (US) of America will be increased by US$20 (RM60) effective April 13, the US Embassy here said. The same amount of increase, from US$140 (RM430) to US$160 (RM490), also applies to visas for tourist, business, transit, crew member, student and exchange visitors. The embassy said the non-immigrant visa fee increase would support the addition and expansion of overseas facilities as well as additional staffing required to meet the increased visa demand. "For a number of reasons, the current fees no longer cover the actual cost of processing non-immigrant visas," it said in a statement Friday. The statement said although most categories of non-immigrant visa applications would be increased, the fee for treaty-investor and trader visas and visas for fiance of US citizens would be decreased. The proposed fees can be accessed at www.regulations.gov or bureau of consular affairs website www.travel.state.gov and on the website of US embasies and consulates. --BERNAMA
