Kuala Lumpur To Stage Regional Mining And Energy Forum In July
By Neville DCruz
MELBOURNE, April 3 (Bernama) -- The inaugural Asian Mining and Energy
Investment (AMEI) Forum will be held in Kuala Lumpur from July 11-13 this year.
The forum, to be opened by Malaysian Minister of International Trade and
Industry, Mustapa Mohamed, is designed to be a barometer for macroeconomic
trends for the mining and energy sector within the Asian region.
To be held at Hilton Sentral, it is being organised by Perth-based firms
ICASIA and Vertical Events.
ICASIA Director Jimmy Yong said they hoped to attract many renowned miners
to act as a bellwether for the junior mining countries in Asia to develop their
untapped resources.
"A segment of the forum will be devoted to energy covering topical issues
relating to oil and gas, uranium and rare earth," Yong said.
Exhibition booths will be available to cater for miners, explorers, project
developers as well as professional support services from the aviation,
surveying, logistics, financial and environmental industries.
The forum will also facilitate networking opportunities, allowing
participants to mingle and promote business ties.
On the last day of the forum a session is being dedicated to private
meetings and business matching.
"It will provide a platform for Australia and China to play an
important role in collaborating with third countries to develop their
markets in Asia, Africa and South America," Yong said.
Several industry leaders and senior government representatives from the
region have been invited as keynote speakers.
"They will provide insights on government policies and industrial practice
at a macro level. Company presentations will have more focus on regional
investment," Yong said.
"We believe that Malaysia is an ideal "gateway" location to Asia's
mining and energy commercial opportunities," he said.
"Logistically Malaysia is a stable, modern, multi-cultural English-speaking
country and offers many attractions, adding a cross-cultural component to the
international forum."
ICASIA is an Australian company known for its promotion and project
management expertise while Vertical Events is the premier mining and resources
conference organising company.
