Turkey's Ice Cream Cafe, Mado, Opens In Bukit Bintang

KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 (Bernama) -- MADO, Turkey's leading ice cream brand, unveils it first cafe in Bukit Bintang on Wednesday. The cafe, located opposite the Lot 10, was launched by the Embassy of Turkey's Deputy Head of Mission Yasin Termizkan (left). Termizkan said the cafe would benefit Malaysia in terms of technology transfer as MADO planned to use more local source in its production which would be exported to its outlets across the Asia Pacific. He said Malaysia was Turkey's third largest trading partner with its exports to Malaysia amounting to USD225 million while imports stood at USD1.124 billion. "We always identify opportunities that could strengthen the bilateral ties between Turkey and Malaysia," he said. Meanwhile, MADO Chief Executive Officer Yasar Kambur said the company hoped to make Asia Pacific as its production and distribution centre along with other products such as Turkish coffees, specialty cakes and pastries. He said MADO, which had been in existence for over 150 years with 250 dessert cafes worldwide, aimed to capture at least 30 per cent of the artisan ice cream market share in Malaysia.
