Maira 2012 Showcases 45 Paintings By Local And Iranian Artists

KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 (Bernama) -- Forty-five paintings by local and Iranian artists are being showcased at the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (Aswara) in conjunction with the Malaysia-Iran Art Exhibition (Maira) 2012. Aswara Rector Dr Mohamad Hatta Azad Khan (right) said the exhibition was a continuation of the Malaysia France Art Exhibition (Mafe) held in Aswara last year. "24 local artists, including 10 Aswara students, are showcasing their masterpieces alongside the paintings by 16 Iranian artists at the exhibition. "This exhibition proves that Aswara is capable of being a hub to promote fulfillment of human capital, that is creative, knowledgeable, highly- skilled, professional and that Aswara's image at international level," he said when opening Maira 2012 at Aswara Gallery here Wednesday. Among local artists involved in the exhibition are Kamarulzaman Taib or better known as Chekem, Mahsun Taib, Mohamad Ismadi Sallehudin and Suzlee Ibrahim (left), while the Iranian artists are Asghar Yaghoubi, Fathollah Marzban and Hamid Pourbahrami. The exhibition began on march 19 and will end on April 12. Aswara or National Academy of Arts, Culture & Heritage is the only higher learning institution in performing area which is fully supported by Malaysian government. (photoBERNAMA) MALAYSIA
