Over 10,000 Runners Expected At Adidas King Of The Road Run M'sia 2012

PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), April 10 (Bernama) -- Over 10,000 runners are expected to take part in the 14th edition of the Adidas King of the Road (KOTR) Run 2012 at the New Pantai Expressway on Sept 9. Adidas Malaysia brand manager Bryan Gee said the number of participants this year was expected to exceed last year's figure of 7,000. "Our target for this year is to attract more than 10,000 runners, uniting those with the passion to run," he told reporters here Tuesday. He said the run would also be held in four other Asean countries, namely Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines. "In Malaysia, the event is open to participants aged 18 and above, across two categories. "The 'close' category is open to local runners, including Malaysians and permanent residents, while the 'open' category is for international participants," he added. Gee said the run comprised two routes -- the 16.8km for the serious runner and the 10km route for the social runner. Runners can register online at the official Malaysia Adidas KOTR website www.adidaskingoftheroad.com.my. The participation fee is US$17.47 (RM55) per runner (16.8km) and US$14.62 (RM45) per runner (10km). Registration is open. The closing date is July 31. Those who register up till May 31 are entitled to the early bird rates of RM50 (16.8km) and RM40(10km). (US$1 = RM3.06) -- BERNAMA
