Four Mothers Of Athletes Earn 'Tickets' To London Olympics

PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia) April 10 (Bernama) -- Four mothers of athletes will get a unique opportunity to see their children in action at the 2012 London Olympics. The four mothers will be on the flight to London to join their children who will be competing in the 2012 London Olympics that kicks off in July, courtesy of Dutch Lady Malaysia. The four, sponsored by Dutch Lady Malaysia, are the mothers of national track cyclist Mohd Azizulhasni Awang, diver Pandelela Rinong and men's doubles pair in badminton, Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong. Mohd Azizulhasni said the presence of his mother in London would certainly provide him an inspiration to win a medal in the Olympics. "So far, my mother has not seen me in action, let alone in an international competition. As such, I am very grateful to the biggest game of my life programme by Dutch Lady Malaysia," he told reporters here on Tuesday. During the announcement today by the Olympic Council of Malaysia President Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar, Mohd Azizulhasni's mother Selamiah Yong and Pandelela's mother Hartini Lamim were present. "I am delighted with the opportunity to see my son in action," said Selamiah. Meanwhile, Dutch Lady Malaysia's Marketing Director Danny Chew said apart from supporting the programme, the company hoped to create awareness among parents whose children are actively involved in sports. "These four athletes have consistently made our nation proud through the years and we are privileged to have them with us for our 2012 campaign. "Through them we hope to inspire and raise awareness to parents that nutrient is the key to health and the unlocking of a child's potential," he said. -- BERNAMA
